The NPLQ trains candidates to supervise busy swimming pool environments and upskills candidates with the ability to respond to emergencies with appropriate first aid and aquatic rescue skills.
The course is a five-day course that requires 100% attendance and is delivered by an experienced trainer with over 20 years of industry experience, ending with an assessment of both theory and practical skills.
The RLSS NPLQ is the industry-leading lifeguard qualification, with successful candidates ready to enter the leisure industry with 95% of all swimming pool lifeguards trained under the RLSS banner. The NPLQ is great for enhancing CVs, university applications, and carries 8 UCAS points for successful candidates.

To enter the October 2024 NPLQ, it is important that you:
· Are 16 years or older
· Can jump / dive into deep water
· Can swim 50m in less than 60 seconds
· Can swim 100m continuously on front and back in deep water
· Can tread water for 30 seconds
· Can surface dive to the floor of the pool
· Can climb out unaided without a ladder / steps
